Wirid Syekh Abu Bakar bin Salim: A Spiritual Treasure from Hadramaut

Wirid is a term that refers to a set of supplications, praises, and remembrances of Allah that are recited regularly by Muslims. Wirid is derived from the Arabic word warrada, which means to repeat or to water. Wirid is a way of watering the heart with the blessings and mercy of Allah, and of seeking His protection and guidance.

Among the many wirids that exist in the Islamic tradition, one of the most famous and widely recited is the wirid of Syekh Abu Bakar bin Salim, a renowned scholar and saint from Hadramaut, Yemen. Syekh Abu Bakar bin Salim was born in 1044 AH (1634 CE) and died in 1130 AH (1718 CE). He was a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through his grandson Hasan ibn Ali. He was also a master of the Ba Alawi tariqa, a Sufi order that traces its lineage to Imam Alawi al-Haddad, another great scholar and saint from Hadramaut.
